SUMMER FUN & MEMORIES

Summer has officially begun!  Now is the time for fun in the sun, great vacations, pool time, beach time and barbecues!  Summertime holds a lot of great memories for people especially from their childhood. 

Remember the times when you used to play ALL day and it seems like the sun never went down?  Going to the beach or the pool with your friends or going to your friend’s pool at their house!  If you were lucky to have a friend with a pool AT THEIR HOUSE you would be there all day every day you could!  Remember hearing the music from the ICE CREAM TRUCK?  You would run home to get some money and try to get to the ice cream truck before it left your block!  Remember eating watermelon until you were about to pop?!  Memba riding you bike all day all around the neighborhood and playing on the playground!  And the best one of all….NO MORE SCHOOL!  Not having to get up early.  No homework.  No book reports.  No job!  Just being a kid! 

If you had friends, a bike, a local playground, a ball court, football field, pool or live by the beach…..This was the life!  Ripping and running all day.  Eating candy, ice cream, soda- all the junk food you could chew.  Skating, playing ball, no uniforms, no ironing, you still had to clean your room and do your chores but you would get them done quick and then it’s off to PLAY ALL DAY! Memba those road trips to your cousins, aunts or grandma’s house out of town?!  Maybe you went to your other parent’s house if you were a child of divorce unfortunately.  Just the fun of traveling and being some place different was great.  Man!  Those were the days. 

Being a child during the summer is great!   And still are for the kids of today…those who have parents that want their children to have the same fond memories of their childhood summers and not want their children to be cooped up in the house all day playing video games or on the computer. 

Adult summer memories are pretty cool too.  Remember the cook-out where Uncle Joe walked right into the sliding glass door and fell on his butt?!  It was so clean he thought it was open! LOL!  Or memba when your cousin Jennifer’s dog grab your cousin’s Mike steak right off his plate while he was grabbing a beer out the cooler?!  Hilarious!  Sitting around eating hot dogs, hamburger, crabs and Mommy’s potato salad till you just couldn’t eat no more.  Drinking all day and partying all night till the sun came up!   Or having family and friends come over to celebrate your graduation from college!  Once of the greatest-because of all that money you got!  

Summer is the best season of all and I’m sure many will agree, if I knew as a child what I know now as an adult, I would have never grown up!

Enjoy your summer!  Be safe and please teach your children how to swim as well as put up pool gates and locks up to protect your children and pets!
